Root zone database - all domain name extensions in the world
The root zone database represents the delegation details of top-level domains, including gTLDs such as .com and country code TLDs such as .uk. As Authority of the DNS Root Zone since the 1970s, IANA is responsible for coordinating these delegations in accordance with international policies and procedures.
The Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA) is a standards organization that oversees global IP address allocation, autonomous system number allocation, root zone management in the Domain Name System (DNS), media types, and other Internet Protocol–related symbols and Internet numbers. Currently IANA is a function of ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers), a nonprofit private American corporation established in 1998 primarily for this purpose under a United States Department of Commerce contract.
