Description
The innovative and specialized domain extension for e-commerce
It was the first domain extension that was introduced specifically for e-commerce. In 2012 ICANN announced that it would expand its range of domain endings in order to further develop its online business on the Internet and thus to be able to answer the large request for new TLDs that came from several sides.
Seven international companies, including Radix, Google, Amazon, Uniregistry, Donuts (Sand Dale, LLC), Dot Store Group LLC and Top Level Domain Holdings Ltd., have submitted applications for this TLD.
The .store TLD was launched in June 2016. It is currently owned by Radix, which was founded by Bhavin Turakhia.
This TLD extension is used by a number of websites in the e-commerce sector, with companies such as Hanes, Emirates, Amazon, Apple, Nike and the luxury brand Jimmy Choo having bought or started websites that use this Doman name ending. The .store TLD is also used by performance artists such as Khalid, Foster The People and Lorde as well as in the sports sector including NBA teams, F1, PSG and Stipe Miocic for e-commerce and the sale of goods.
